Khargone Farmers create ruckus in Sanawad agriculture produce market over non payment by trader

Sanawad (Khargone district Madhya Pradesh): Farmers created a ruckus in the agriculture produce market here on Tuesday as a trader did not make payment to 50 cultivators after purchasing their gram. They asked mandi secretary that money be withdrawn from trader's bank account for payment to farmers. As protest intensified mandi secretary filed a complaint against trader at police station and assured farmers that they will get their money. After the market opened on Monday a large number of farmers reached Mandi office where Akhilesh Patel of Atharva Enterprises refused to give dues. The farmers said same trader did not give money in exchange for the produce through another firm.

Despite this farmers gathered on Indore-Ichhapur highway and raised a ruckus. They calmed down after SDM Anukul Jain held talks with them. After the market opened on Monday a large number of farmers reached Mandi office where Akhilesh Patel of Atharva Enterprises refused to give dues. He left office and switched off the phone. The farmers said same trader did not give money in exchange for the produce through another firm. They received dues after public representatives and officials intervened. Mandi secretary BS Parihar said farmers will be given money. Instructions have been given to prepare list of farmers.
