Ratlam District hospital flooded with rainwater and sewage as panic grips visitors

Some videos showing rainwater flowing in emergency ward male and female wards went viral on social media on Saturday. Though hospital administration claimed that they made preparations before monsoon sources said district hospital gets inundated every year. We had handled the situation in the night and now everything is under control” civil surgeon Ratlam district hospital Prabhat Chandelkar. A local who made videos of rainwater flowing in the hospital claimed that ward boys and hospital staff were not present when it happened.

By Staff Reporter Indore (Madhya Pradesh): Panic gripped visitors in Ratlam district hospital on Friday night after rainwater and sewage entered the hospital. The city received heavy rainfall causing waterlogging in many low-lying areas on Friday night. Some videos showing rainwater flowing in emergency ward male and female wards went viral on social media on Saturday. A video shows that a woman patient lying on a mattress completely soaked with water in hospitals mental health ward. The woman was late shifted to another ward with help of onlookers. The patients and their attendants had to wait for at least three hours to get rainwater to recede. Though hospital administration claimed that they made preparations before monsoon sources said district hospital gets inundated every year. “We prepared for monsoon. As it was first rainfall that lashed city there was blockage in sewage system that led to this unprecedented. We had handled the situation in the night and now everything is under control” civil surgeon Ratlam district hospital Prabhat Chandelkar. A local who made videos of rainwater flowing in the hospital claimed that ward boys and hospital staff were not present when it happened. “When we raised objection some medical staffers came and shifted patients from flooded wards to other wards” he said wishing anonymity.
