Ujjain Con man dupes scores of people by promising lucrative returns

Ujjain: A con man grabbed crores of rupees from the members of Aanjana community by promising them lucrative returns of Rs 20000 every week against an investment of Rs 1 lakh. One such victim Manish Aanjana of Basant Vihar Colony a prosperous farmer handed over Rs 65 lakh to Anand. When the money was not returned even after three months Manish approached the Nanakheda police station to file a report against Anand. According to Manish Anand has raised money from the members of Aanjana community which predominantly inhabits in 60 villages of Ujjain. Nanakheda TI OP Ahir said that Manish Aanjana has given an application for fraud to the tune of Rs 65 lakh.

The youth has fled the city with his wife. People duped by the youth approached Nanakheda police station on Friday. The story of this con began othugs started a year ago when Anand Bhatol a resident of Malanvasa started luring the society members by promising to pay them Rs 20 000 every week against an investment of Rs 1 lakh. Many fell for the con. One such victim Manish Aanjana of Basant Vihar Colony a prosperous farmer handed over Rs 65 lakh to Anand. Initially Anand paid him the promised amount but he soon disappeared from the city. In the apprehension of sinking a huge amount Manish contacted Anandís brother Dharmendra Bhatol who is a lawyer by profession and he assured to return the money. When the money was not returned even after three months Manish approached the Nanakheda police station to file a report against Anand. According to Manish Anand has raised money from the members of Aanjana community which predominantly inhabits in 60 villages of Ujjain. The actual amount collected by the con man is in crores he said. Nanakheda TI OP Ahir said that Manish Aanjana has given an application for fraud to the tune of Rs 65 lakh. We are probing the matter and action will be taken according to the evidence TI said. On the other hand an application was also submitted to the SP on behalf of the Bas Association claiming that lawyer Dharmendra Bhatol is being unnecessarily harassed. Bhatol maintains that he and his family have nothing to do with Anand. Despite this people threaten him and his father in person and over phone.
