Indore: Nearly 50 men of Dubey Ka Bagicha area, adjacent to upscale Vallabh Nagar under Tukoganj police station, joined hands and formed an army on Sunday night to guard their houses from an unidentified man who walks into houses during the wee hours in an attempt to commit robberies.However, the unidentified accused had to so far settle with only an electricity cable and bicycle that he stole from a house. Following the constant invasions, residents have had sleepless nights for nearly two months following the horror they have been living in.Some of the residents claimed they saw the man and recognised him by his appearance. He is fair and has a spiky hairstyle.Several claimed that the man had entered a number of houses in the locality and tried to look around.As soon as residents of that particular house notice him and before they can raise an alarm, the man takes to his heels and is nowhere to be found. He normally roams the area between 1:30am and 3:00am."The man is well aware of the entire locality and the narrow lanes as no one can flee that easily. Police used to patrol the area but after the recent shuffle of staff at the police station, they do not come here," claimed Bhagwan Das, a resident of the area. He added that the man seems to have something mentally wrong with him as he wears sunglasses in the night.On Sunday, the night patrol committee members had their first meeting and the issue was addressed. At least 75 wooden sticks were distributed among members of the committee and some residents of the area."Soon the Kesari Nand Sangh members will come up with a detailed plan. The first meeting was just to develop a sense of awareness among residents about the rising concern. The members will patrol the area in shifts. But as soon as we came out, he had vanished - said Bhagwati Bai, resident.BOX: Occasions thief was spotted· On the intervening night of May 24 and May 25, the mystery man was noticed peeing inside the house of a resident of the area· A few nights later, the man had managed to enter the house of another resident· On the intervening night of June 3 and June 4, he allegedly made away with electric wire cables that were left in an under-construction house and a bicycle parked nearby· On the intervening night of June 7 and June 8, he was noticed peeping into another resident's houseSo far, we have not come across any information of such incidents taking place in Tukoganj police station area. Police remain on patrol in the city during nights and cover every location under its territory.
