2 boys die at Ujjain boys’ hostel under mysterious circumstances

INDORE: Two teenaged brothers died in mysterious circumstances at government boys' hostel at Dussehra Maidan in Ujjain in wee hours of Tuesday. Further the abdominal pain indicated at food poisoning.The children had consumed food from the mess, which catered to other students also. The reptile was burned and ashes kept in a bag.Some claimed that the children might have been bit by the snake. Police reached the district hospital in strength and got the situation under control.Police and administrative officials rushed to the hostel and recorded statement of the staff and fellow inmates. But treating doctors claimed that they could not find any snake bite marks on the bodies.

Another boy was rushed to the hospital with severe abdominal pain and put on life saving drugs.The deaths have left the police and administrative officials in a state of confusion as no evidence was found that could explain how the boys developed the fatal condition."It is too early to say what happened. Doctors have performed post-mortem examination on the bodies and handed them over to the parents," Madhav Nagar police station in-charge MS Parmar told reporters.The matter came to fore on Monday night when the boys - Lokendra Hada, 11, his brother Hemant, 8, and fellow inmate Radheshyam, 8 - suffered severe abdominal pain and informed hostel's caretaker Suresh Yadav about it.When the condition started deteriorating, Yadav summoned Lokendra and Hemant's parents from Anand Nagar area and Radheshyam's parents from Nagjhiri area. The brothers were immediately rushed to the district hospital, where they died during treatment.Radheshyam was rushed to a private hospital, where his condition is reported critical.The brothers' deaths prompted their relatives to create a ruckus at the hospital, accusing the hostel authorities of feeding their children poison. Police reached the district hospital in strength and got the situation under control.Police and administrative officials rushed to the hostel and recorded statement of the staff and fellow inmates. They found that on Monday, the staff members had found a snake and killed it. The reptile was burned and ashes kept in a bag.Some claimed that the children might have been bit by the snake. But treating doctors claimed that they could not find any snake bite marks on the bodies. Further the abdominal pain indicated at food poisoning.The children had consumed food from the mess, which catered to other students also. "The possibility of food being contaminated is less," said the investigating police officer.Madhav Nagar police have registered a case and were awaiting post-mortem examination report to further their investigation.
