Arunachal registers IMR of 36 in 2016

State director of family welfare K Lego expressed disappointment about the IMR rise. "No baby should die for want of service," he said. ITANAGAR: Arunachal's Infant Mortality Rate ( IMR ) was 36 deaths per 1000 births in 2016, the highest figure recorded in the state since 2000 and one of the worst in the entire country.Arunachal, Assam, Meghalaya, Bihar and Chattisgarh are some states which fare poorly in infant mortality but the situation is worst in Madhya Pradesh , which recorded 47 deaths per 1000 births, according to the Niti Aayog report published in January this year.
