Arunachal Congress slams BJP, threatens stir over rising fuel prices

ITANAGAR: Arunachal Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) president, Takam Sanjoy, has criticized BJP-led NDA government for the rising fuel prices in the country.Strongly criticizing the Centre and the state government, Sanjoy said Congress would be forced to launch protests across all district headquarters, including the state capital, if the prices do not come down soon. "The average price of gasoline around the world is 1.17 U.S dollar per barrel while it is 1.16 dollar per litre in India. "If the government fails to do so, Congress would be forced to hold protests in district headquarters to tell the masses how the government is looting us all in the name of ushering in acche din," he added. All countries have access to the same international markets but impose different taxes and offer subsidies, leading to different retail prices of gasoline," the former MP said in a press statement here on Wednesday.Alleging that the NDA government is looting people, the APCC chief asked the state government to immediately reduce all local taxes and VAT on fuels.
