Arunachal Pradesh Congress blows poll bugle, releases report card on BJP's 'failures'

It also criticized the government for the question paper fiasco in the Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission and arbitrary appointment of a new body of Fifth Arunachal Pradesh State Commission for Women (APSCW) without following the laid down guidelines. It also took a dig at the government for its alleged attack on democratic institutions like the CBI, RBI, Election Commission and Central Vigilance Commission. The party said the Jan Dhan Yojana introduced by the Centre is full of ‘empty promises’.The document titled ‘Paanch Saal Desh Badhaal’ rapped the NDA government for stopping or delaying financial grants to institutes of higher education in Arunachal.Launching a scathing attack on the BJP government in the state, Congress said the Pema Khandu-led government miserably failed on all fronts and law and order deteriorated in different districts. Besides highlighting the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016, demonetization, GST, Rafael scam, hike in petrol, diesel, kerosene and LPG prices, the document also criticised the central government for religious intolerance, not waiving farmers’ loans and its failure to deposit Rs 15 lakh in the account of every Indian as promised.In the document, Congress alleged that the NDA government had withdrawn the special category status under Article 371 (H) from several northeastern states and also withdrew subsidy-related schemes from the region. Referring to the Rs 245-crore compensation scam on the Potin-Joram stretch of the Trans Arunachal Highway (TAH), Congress criticised the state government for the alleged unprovoked police firing during an anti-PRC (Permanent Resident Certificate) protest last month, killing three persons.The Grand Old Party further said the PRC issue escalated because of an announcement made by Khandu and his deputy, Chowna Mein, that PRCs will be granted to non-Arunachalis without a framework being finalised by the Joint High Power Committee (JHPC) on the issue. It also criticized the government for the question paper fiasco in the Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission and arbitrary appointment of a new body of Fifth Arunachal Pradesh State Commission for Women (APSCW) without following the laid down guidelines.
