Congress promises sops to lure Arunachal Pradesh voters

“All elementary-level schools will be suitably equipped to provide computer education. ITANAGAR: The Congress in Arunachal Pradesh on Friday promised to improve infrastructure in all schools of the state and distribute computers and bicycles to economically poor students if the party is voted to power.Addressing an election rally at Vijaynagar in Changlang district that yet to be connected by roads, Arunachal Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) president Takam Sanjoy said his party would start construction of the Miao-Vijaynagar road within 6 months of coming to power. He also promised to introduce air sorties to Vijaynagar five days a week till the completion of the road.Sanjoy also pledged to establish better road, rail and air connectivity throughout the state.In the education sector, the party offered various sops like implementation of new schemes in a time-bound manner, free distribution of school uniforms, books and their timely delivery besides improving quality of midday meals. Schemes for cash awards to recognize the sincere efforts of teachers who contributed to outstanding performance of students in a particular subject will be implemented and financial help to poor students for pursuing higher education will also be provided besides internet facilities in all schools,” said Sanjoy.Sanjoy, who is campaigning for the party throughout the state for the April 11 simultaneous Lok Sabha and assembly elections, vowed to provide free nutritional supplements like vitamins and iron tablets to BPL-category lactating mothers besides, distribute sanitary napkins in rural areas and review health insurance sSchemes for better and effective implementation.“Upgrading Primary Health Care Centers and providing a maternity ward in each centre, increasing hospital beds for indoor patients in district hospitals, effective implementation of immunization programmes, providing adequate doctors and paramedical staff in all the hospitals will be the priority of the party if voted to power,” he added.
