Our CorrespondentItanagar: Dibang Valley district in Arunachal Pradesh topped in suicide cases in the state earlier but Lohit district now is recording such cases as suicide report surfaces every other day, Tirap district judicial magistrate first class (JMFC) cum civil judge Amanso Chai Sheristadar said and termed it as a matter of serious concern. Addressing a function to observe World Suicide Prevention Day, themed 'Working together to prevent suicide', in zonal general hospital at Tezu in Lohit district on Tuesday, he said “We together need collective approach to deal with this menace to avoid loss of precious lives”. Assistant commissioner Sunny Singh said that every suicide death is a tragedy for family, friends and colleagues. District prgramme officer (DPO) Dr S Towang, District Medical Officer (DMO) in-charge Dr SM Singh, medical superintendent Dr C Tayang highlighted various reasons for suicide and its remedial measures. But suicides are preventable, he said. “We should help counsel and approach psychiatric to get rid of such tendency. Life is precious we need to face every challenges and learn to win,” he said with conviction. District prgramme officer (DPO) Dr S Towang, District Medical Officer (DMO) in-charge Dr SM Singh, medical superintendent Dr C Tayang highlighted various reasons for suicide and its remedial measures. B K Jayanti of Brahmakumaris suggested spirituality, most effective preventive way, to moulds ones life towards positivity. As the event, organized by District Mental Health Society, aimed at raising mass awareness on suicide and role of each member of Lohit society to prevent it, various speakers said that suicide is a mantle disease caused by multiple factors, primarily due to breakdown of love affair, especially among youth, socio-economic condition, addiction, family dispute and stresses, psychological or behavior failure etc and suggested preventive steps, an official release informed here on Wednesday.
