National Girl Child Day observed at VKV Auditorium

A CorrespondentROING: The National Girl Child Day (NGCD) was celebrated at the VKV Auditorium here on Friday. Students and teachers from different schools, government departments, NGOs, mothers of newborn girl children, Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao campaign (BBBP) Local Champions, CDPOs and field functionaries participated in the programme. DDSE Ego Doye administered the BBBP pledge and celebrated the birth of girl children present by cutting the cake and giving away gifts. All the resource persons spoke on the importance and value of the girl child in the society. Deputy Director of Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) GA Perying also spoke on the importance of education in empowering women through the BBBP programme. The programme ended with a prize distribution ceremony for winners of the painting and slogan writing competitions conducted in various schools of the area.
