Our Correspondent Itanagar: The Arunachal Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) on Thursday paid floral tributes to freedom fighter Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose on his birth anniversary at Rajiv Gandhi Bhawan, here. APCC president Nabam Tuki in his address to the party leaders and workers remembered the great iconic freedom fighter and recalled the historic fight and resistance put out by Indian National Army (INA) under the leadership of Netaji, whose defiant patriotism made him a national hero. “The slogan Jai Hind coined by the INA under his leadership has become the regular greeting of all Indians. The day is celebrated to celebrate his unmatched love and patriotism for the country,” Tuki, who represents Sagalee assembly constituency, said. The senior Congress leader informed that the 71st Republic Day would be celebrated by the party on January 26 at its office. “The party workers will read the Preamble of the Constitution and take oath to safeguard it as the fundamental principles of the Constitution are threatened by the BJP government at the Centre,” Tuki said. “It is our prime duty to fight to protect the values enshrined in the Constitution. The Republic Day honours the date on which the Constitution of India came into effect. The day is being celebrated to mark the coming into force of the Constitution which is the result of century long historical independence movement led by the Indian National Congress,” Tuki added. He informed that the party in the state would organise Ekta Sammelan and Inter-Faith Prayer on the occasion of Martyrdom Day of Mahatma Gandhi, the father of the nation on January 30 next at Rajiv Gandhi Bhawan, here.
