Daati Maharaj’s bal ashram in Pali is illegal: Minister

“Bal Ashram of Daati Maharaj had only applied for registration and so far, not obtained the mandatory registration to run such an institution. Jaipur: A team of State Women’s Commission and state social welfare department on Thursday reached bal ashram of the controversial godman Daati Maharaj in Pali district on Thursday following allegations of sexual assault of one of the inmates by the godman.Minister for social welfare and empowerment Arun Chaturvedi said that the bal ashram was not registered with the department and is illegal. A team has been constituted to enquire in to the activities of the ashram run by the godman,” he said.Meanwhile, a team of the State Women’s Commission also reached the Bal Ashram for girls at Alawas in Pali district on Thursday. The commission was informed that about 208 children daily up down to the ashram from neighbouring areas and remaining children had gone home during summer vacation. The team enquired about the number of girls, their registration and other activities at the Bal Ashram, said women commission chairperson Suman Sharma.The team of the women’s commission found that out of 709 children registered, only 246 were present.
