Jaipur: A 25-year-old para commando, who hails from Ladania village in Jhalawar district, was killed and attained martyrdom late on Wednesday evening in a gunfight with the militants in a forest area of Kupwada district of Jammu and Kashmir.A pall of gloom descended on the village after the news of commando’s death reached here.Sepoy Mukut Bihari Meena was with 3 Parachute Regiment and was killed in a battle that continued till late on Wednesday evening at the Sadhu Ganga forest area in the north Kashmir of Kupwada district.According to army sources, the operation was launched in the forest area on Tuesday following an input on a group of militants hiding there.“His mortal remains will be reaching Jaipur airport in the morning of Friday. Because of bad weather on Thursday the flight got cancelled. Wreath laying ceremony would be done when wreath would be laid by Lt. General Cherish Mathson, Army Commander, Sapth Shakti Command. Thereafter the mortal remaisn would be taken to his native village,” said Colonel Sombit Ghosh, Public Relations officer, Defence, Jaipur while talking to TOI.On the other hand the family members of Meena were restless after administration informed them about delaying of the mortal remains. According to the villagers, Meena joined the army in 2012 and was born in 1993.“He was on leave one and a half month ago. He has an infant daughter of 6 months,” said a villager. He was recently sent to Kupwada almost a month ago from Gwalior.Meanwhile, the district administration was preparing a helipad as it is likely that his mortal remains may reach by army chopper.Chief minister Vasundhara Raje too expressed her grief over the death of the para commando on her twitter. “The news of brave son of Jhalawar’s sacrifice is very sad. The country is proud of him for his bravery,” she has expressed.
