Many students of RU marked absent despite taking exam

Hundreds of BSc students protested in the university against the careless attitude of the administration. Jaipur: Hundreds of students have complained that they are marked absent in the exam marksheet declared by the Rajasthan University even though they have taken the examination.Similar situation happened few weeks back in BSc examination results when hundreds of students claimed irregularity and complained of being marked as absent even after taking the exam. They were given assurance that the mistake will be rectified and this will not be repeated.Piya Sharma (name changed) took her Sociology exam on April 24, but when the results were declared she was marked absent. She said, “I was asked to wait till further action is taken but when will all this stop? Until then I cannot say anything for sure,” said Gupta.Students of BSc, MEd, BA and many others courses have filed complaints.

She has presented the attendance sheet she signed on the examination day to the authorities who asked her to wait till further action is taken. She said, “I was asked to wait till further action is taken but when will all this stop? They have not learned anything from the past mistakes. This is harassment and university should take action against the culprits as soon as possible or else this will be repeated again.”However, the university chief examiner Vinod Gupta said that there are many reasons for being marked absent and administration is investigating the matter. “It is a possibility that student did not fill the form properly, some technical issues while filling the form online or our section may have done some mistake. But we will take care of it and if any of our officers are liable, we will take action against him. Until then I cannot say anything for sure,” said Gupta.Students of BSc, MEd, BA and many others courses have filed complaints. Many have to apply for re-evaluation which will cost them Rs 380 per subject.
