Traffic comes to a grinding halt

The areas connecting to city roads to the railway station and central bus stand witnessed severe traffic jams. Traffic policemen were tirelessly working since Saturday morning still they were unable to maintain the traffic like a usual day.In the evening, when the aspirants returned, bus stand was jam-packed. “I walked for almost 15 kms to reach railway station as no conveyance was available. Jaipur: Despite a Sunday where majority of the Walled City markets remain closed, the traffic in the city was chaotic when thousands of the aspirants were returning from their examination centres. The autowallahs and e-rickshaw were fleecing and asking for astronomical fares,” said Narpat Lal, an aspirant.

Likewise, be it the railways, Rajasthan State Roadways Transport Corporation (RSRTC) or private bus services, nobody had made proper arrangements for the aspirants.In the morning when the examination started, the traffic connecting railway station to Jhotwara, bus stand to Sikar road, railway station to Sodala, railway station to Khasa Kothi, railway station to Chandpole was badly affected. Everyone from a mini-bus to tempo was jam-packed with the aspirants. Traffic policemen were tirelessly working since Saturday morning still they were unable to maintain the traffic like a usual day.In the evening, when the aspirants returned, bus stand was jam-packed. Buses to Jodhpur, Udaipur, Delhi, Shahpura, Karauli, Ajmer, Bhilwara and other parts of the Rajasthan were overloaded to an extent that aspirants were risking their lives by travelling on the top.Vehicles from Ajmeri gate, Sanganeri gate, Hasanpura were moving in slower pace towards railway station and central bus stand.Even aspirants were unhappy with the arrangements by the authorities. “I walked for almost 15 kms to reach railway station as no conveyance was available.
