Jaipur: For many aspirants, the constable examination was nothing short of a nightmare.Many students narrated their ordeal about how their sleeves were cut off in full public view, or asked to remove their shirts by unyielding cops on streets.Many students hailing from poor families struggled to find a decent lodging in the city as rest rooms and budget hotel charged exuberant prices. Tired and exhausted from the horrendous journey in packed buses and trains, the student found arrangements at the examinations equally taxing and painful.“A found a rest room near Barkat Nagar, on a normal days it would have charged Rs 150 for a night stay, but on Sunday I was asked to pay Rs 500. I couldn’t pay so much and managed to spend the night somehow,” said Shivam, a native of Ajmer.Another candidate who did not wish to reveal his name said that he felt humiliated when he was asked to remove shirt. ‘Many of us wrote a test bare chested or simply in vests. There were girls in the room too so it was humiliating, “ he said, adding that he takes solace in the fact that at least now only deserving candidates will get selected.Police defends internet blockingThe Rajasthan police said that it was important to suspend internet in order to ensure that exams are not rigged. “Rajasthan police is one of the most active police force on social media. Yet it was important for us to ensure that there were no rumor floating or people uploading morphed pictures of question papers claiming it was leaked,” said ADGP (Law and Order) NRK Reddy, adding that while the inconvenience caused to the people are regretted, he said that police ensured that exams were cheating free.Woman aspirant dies in mishapA woman died and two others were critically injured when car in which they were travelling rammed into a truck in Ajmer on Sunday.
