After gang busted Jammu ampKashmir not to issue arms licence

JAIPUR: After busting a gang providing fake arms licences on back date via Jammu and Kashmir to large number of people in Rajasthan , the state ATS recommended revoking of arms licences issued in 2015 with a back date of 2008. However, the Jammu and Kashmir government in its order has initiated an inquiry into the matter and directed the authorities not to issue fresh individual arms licences.ATS on September, 11 had busted a gang involved in supplying arms and also providing a backdate arms licences from Jammu and Kashmir in connivance to the officials. They were though issued during this period but they were back date licences having 2008 mentioned on it. After making almost 51 arrests in this case, the ATS had also arrested one person who is a brother of IAS officer posted in Jammu and Kashmir.“We had requested them to revoke the arms licences issued from there during 2015 and 2016. Thus, we had requested the Jammu and Kashmir authorities to revoke all such licences,” said a senior officer of ATS on Monday.Following the communication by the ATS Rajasthan, the home department of Jammu and Kashmir in its order on July 12 has asked the divisional commissioner of Jammu and Kashmir to verify all the cases of individual arms licences issued during January 1, 2017 to February 23, 2018.However, ATS is not clear if the arms licences they had recommended for revoking are including in the fresh orders or not.
