Police bust exam cheating gang 4 impersonators held

JAIPUR: The special operation group (SOG) wing of Rajasthan police on Monday arrested four persons involved in helping candidates in cheating by impersonation in the SSC examination. "The accused included Pramod Kumar Yadav (25), a BCA graduate, Vinay Kumar (24) and Avnish Kumar (26) all natives of Bihar. One of the arrested accused took a flight from Patna to New Delhi and took a taxi to reach Jaipur to appear as a proxy candidate for the actual candidate in the SSC exam held on Sunday. "The gang was in touch with hundreds of youths across the state," said an officer. We have also arrested Chetram Meena who was in touch with the kingpin of the gang in Bihar who was involved in taking hefty charges varying from Rs 4 lakh to 6 lakh per candidate.

The gang also attempted to appear for the police constable exam but could not succeed.Acting on a specific tip-off police have arrested four persons late on Sunday evening while they were waiting to board a bus to New Delhi after appearing for the SSC examination which is for the UDC and LDC posts."The accused included Pramod Kumar Yadav (25), a BCA graduate, Vinay Kumar (24) and Avnish Kumar (26) all natives of Bihar. We have also arrested Chetram Meena who was in touch with the kingpin of the gang in Bihar who was involved in taking hefty charges varying from Rs 4 lakh to 6 lakh per candidate. Chetram was the local facilitator for the three persons who appeared as proxy candidates by tampering with the admission card of various exams," said Umesh Mishra, additional director general (ADG), SOG and ATS.SOG has also seized a large number of admission cards of SSC, civil defence, and also of Rajasthan police constable recruitment exam that took place on July 14 and July 15. "We have sent a team to Bihar to arrest the kingpin Bhaskar who used to send candidates to appear for various examinations on request made by local facilitators," said Karan Sharma, additional SP, SOG.On the modus operandi of the gang a senior officer said, "They used to get the photographs and other IDs including the admission letters of the candidates who wished to send proxy candidates to clear the exam. With the help of technologies including Photoshop they used to paste their picture on the admission letter to get inside the examination hall and appear for the exam," said a senior officer.The accused identified as Pramod Kumar took a flight to Delhi from Patna. "He was given a cab from Delhi airport to reach Jaipur by Chetram Meena who took him at the examination centre to appear for a candidate," the officer added.Another accused Vinay Kumar had attempted to appear for the constable exam at Sikar but failed due to strict vigilance. "The gang was in touch with hundreds of youths across the state," said an officer.
