JMC health dept plan to curb seasonal diseases

Animal husbandry department’s veterinary officers have been directed to participate in zoonotic disease outbreak investigation with health department as they are part of district rapid response team. Women and child development department has been directed to get their accredited social health activist (ASHA) workers involved in fever surveillance activities. Also, PHED will supply bleaching powder on payment basis to the health department as and when required.Local self-government department has been asked to clean the drains, preventing of waterlogging in urban and specially slum areas. During prayer meeting, on every Saturday, schoolchildren should be addressed by the teachers regarding the vector control, mosquito source reduction activities and water borne disease. Jaipur: Joint action plan will be prepared by the health department, Jaipur Municipal Corporation (JMC) and district administration to prevent spread of seasonal diseases in the city.“A high-level meeting of chief secretary DB Gupta, additional chief secretaries and principal secretaries of different departments was held in Jaipur on Tuesday for a strategy to prevent spread of seasonal diseases in the monsoon season,” said Dr. Ravi Mathur, additional director (rural health), health department.In the meeting, Gupta directed health department, JMC and district administration to prepare a joint action plan to prevent seasonal diseases.Work has also been allocated to all departments.

Besides, expressing concern that scrub typhus is new emerging disease of zoonotic importance, directions have been issued to animal husbandry department to conduct spray of cypermethrin on or around animals.Besides, Rajasthan state road transport corporation’s (RSRTC) bus drivers have been directed to collect blood slides from auxiliary nurse midwives of sub center and hand over to the primary health centre officials for testing. Besides, RSRTC has been directed to supply burnt oil to medical and health department at subsidised rates, which is used in anti-larvae activities.In the meeting, it was discussed that instructions should be issued to defence health officers to provide the line list of positive malaria and dengue cases to health department for taking appropriate action in time.Railways have been directed to conduct anti-larvae activities and source reduction activities before the onset of monsoon. Women and child development department has been directed to get their accredited social health activist (ASHA) workers involved in fever surveillance activities. ASHA workers will get Rs 15 per blood slide collection and Rs 75 for complete treatment per malaria case as incentives.Instructions have been issued to district officials of public health and engineering department (PHED) for conducting testing of water samples on priority basis. No limit will be imposed regarding number of water samples drawn in problematic situation. Also, PHED will supply bleaching powder on payment basis to the health department as and when required.Local self-government department has been asked to clean the drains, preventing of waterlogging in urban and specially slum areas. Municipal corporation should undertake fogging operation in the city area. Besides, fogging operation in and around 50 houses of positive dengue and plasmodium falciparum malaria cases will be undertaken by the health department.Moreover, necessity has been felt of regular cleaning of covered waste water system to maintain the flow of water, to avoid mosquito breeding. Services of MGNREGA workers under rural development and panchayati raj department will be taken in villages and project sites for the mosquito breeding sites reduction work. Food and civil supplies department will ensure regular and uninterrupted supply of kerosene to districts as per need and norms for prevention and control of malaria.Education department will conduct vector control teaching to students up to Class XIII in all government schools in urban and rural areas. During prayer meeting, on every Saturday, schoolchildren should be addressed by the teachers regarding the vector control, mosquito source reduction activities and water borne disease.
