Jaipur: Thousands of people living in Kho Nagoriyan are facing severe water logging and a lack of proper roads and infrastructure has made their lives difficult in the rainy season.Kho Nagoriyan, is one of the areas that are being transferred from rural to urban. The development work is very slow even after being part of the Jaipur Municipal Corporation (JMC). The residents are fighting for the direct Bisalpur line since a long time. The residents have complained that the roads are so clogged that there is no place to walk and elderly people are facing difficulty.Haji Mohmmad Zakir, president of Jan Hit Vikas Samiti working for the people in Kho Nagoriyan said “The government is not concerned about us. There are about 37 colonies and only three are approved by JMC. It’s been 15 years and nothing has been done by the government either in the approved colony or in the unapproved ones or in the hamlets of the area. JMC started constructing roads in one of the approved colonies but it’s been eight months and it still hasn’t been completed. Until proper roads are being made, we just want JMC to make temporary arrangements for the convenience of the people.”However, JMC officials were seen shrugging away their liability and said that work is underway, but as the area has been recently transferred to urban, the area is not developed. Deputy Mayor of the city Manoj Bhardwaj said, “We have allotted Rs 3 crore in every ward for the construction of roads and the work will begin soon. However, as the area was earlier rural, it will take time to develop it as hardly any investment has been done. We are working, but it will take some time to develop such an underdeveloped part of the city.”
