Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Sanjay Shrotriya said Singh arranged impersonators for multiple completive examinations, including the one which was busted by the SOG on Monday.A native of Chhapra in Bihar, Singh took money from students and arranged impersonators for them. He also facilitated devices to evade biometric fingerprint identification, thereby allowing dummy candidates to fill in for the original applicants.“Vinay studied engineering from a university in Kolkata. DIG added that at some incidents, the accused simply cheated students on pretext of providing them impersonators.The SOG on Monday had arrested Pramod Kumar Yadav (25), a BCA graduate, Vinay Kumar Gupta (24) and Avnish Kumar (26) all natives of Bihar and one Chetram Meena who was in touch with Singh. The gang took hefty charges varying from Rs 4 lakh to 6 lakh per candidate.Chetram was the local facilitator for the Yadav, Gupta and Kumar who had appeared as proxy candidates by tampering with the hall tickets.One of the arrested accused even took a flight from Patna to New Delhi and took a taxi to reach Jaipur to appear as a proxy candidate for the actual candidate in the SSC exam held on Sunday. The gang also attempted to appear for the police constable exam but could not succeed.“Not just SSC, their involvement is suspected in other recruitment examinations such as DDA, Metro, Uttar Pradesh police etc,” an official said.Sources in Rajasthan police told TOI that they have written to the local coordinator of the SSC board about the matter. “There is another mastermind who we suspect ran the entire network from Bihar. We are making efforts to arrest him as soon as possible,” an official said.
