But rain has also brought with it many civic issues due to flooding of storm water in low lying areas in some parts of the state.An old building collapsed in the busy Kesarganj market on Wednesday afternoon due to heavy rain, but no casualty was reported. A building nearby was also on the verge of collapse and was vacated. There are nearly 173 buildings identified as dangerous in Ajmer Monsoon showers continued for the second day on Wednesday and the roads were filled with drainage water due to lack of management by local bodies.There were 173 old buildings identified as dangerous in 2014 and notices were issued but no action has been taken by the Municipal Corporation. These buildings are mostly located in Naya Bazaar, Nallah Bazaar and Dargah Bazaar. Last year as well, two buildings had collapsed: one in Kesarganj and another in Nallah bazaar.Meanwhile rain was reported in most parts of the district and in Ajmer city, it rained for an hour in the morning and for about two hours in the afternoon.Water from the drains spilled on to the roads as the sewerage system collapsed. In Dholabhata region, Public Works Department had put sand and stones to construct roads for the rainy season, which led to waterlogged roads and rain water flooding the houses of the residents.Other regions affected by heavy rain were Gujjar ki Dharti, Nagara, Bhajan Ganj, Ramganj, Station road and Kachari road. According to the control room, no casualty has been reported in the district because of heavy rain. The rain also gave respite to the farmers in the district who had taken to working as labourers in the construction sector and on mines. They returned to their fields for sowing.According to the irrigation department, water levels increased in many local water bodies after the rain. Anasagar went to 13.4 feet and water levels also rose in Pushkar Pond. In the last 48 hours, Ajmer city received 28 MM rain and more rainfall is likely.Shekhawati region witnessed torrential rain for the third day, resulting flooding of many low lying areas. Heavy rain lashed Tara Nagar in Churu and Fathepur in Sikar district resulting in many areas inundated in storm water. Water gushed in to the houses, shops and schools affecting normal life of the people. It has also affected traffic movement on these areas.
