JODHPUR: Registrar of the Jai Narayan Vyas University, P K Sharma resigned from his post on Wednesday and handed over the charge to the Financial Advisor. The decision was taken after the state government issued direction to remove the registrar. The acting vice chancellor Radhe Shyam Sharma, however, refused to have received any such directions and said that the registrar resigned from his post on Wednesday and financial advisor Dashrath Solanki was given the charge of the registrar of the university.“P K Sharma resigned from his post today and the financial advisor of the university has been given the charge of the registrar,” Sharma said.Registrar Sharma, had been holding the seat in violation of the university norms against the provision of handing the charge to the financial advisor in absence of permanent appointment. But Sharma, a professor of Chemistry, had been illegally appointed as the registrar of the university by the former vice chancellor R P Singh.During his 14-month stint, many irregularities had surfaced in the university, including 26 contract staff being given permanent appointment.Having hogged the limelight for irregularities in the recruitment of 154 teachers in 2012, the name of Sharma’s wife Vineeta Sharma has also figured in the beneficiaries and it was believed that in order to avoid any action, Sharma had not been cooperating in the investigation and sitting over some important communications addressed to him by the government pertaining to this recruitment.Interestingly, Sharma continued to remain on the post of registrar despite a note of dissent by 13 teachers in a meeting of academic council, including one by a former Syndicate member.
