Film appreciation course by FTII concludes at Jawahar Kala Kendra in Jaipur

The ten day course on film appreciation being held in collaboration with the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) at Jawahar Kala Kendra concluded on Friday with a valedictory ceremony. In the span of 10 days, they learnt about the history of film making in India and the world, methodology of films (technical and non-technical), basics of film making, picturisation of songs among many others. She also mentioned that as part of visual arts, JKK will soon be introducing films to add on with theatre and music. Various guest lectures were organised for the students and a number of films including classics by Federico Fellini, Charlie Chaplin and Dada Saheb Phalke were also screened which were followed by discussions for critical appreciation. The ceremony concluded with some of the students sharing their feedback about the course and handing over of the certificates from FTII.As many as 85 participants from various states of the country like Bihar, Haryana, Delhi, Maharashtra, Orissa, Kerala and Uttar Pradesh had participated in thIS course.

The ceremony began with an overview of the programme and felicitation of the course directors from FTII -- Pankaj Saxena and Munish Bhardwaj and Sandeep Shahare by Anuradha Singh, director general, JKK.Saxena shared with the students that it is in their hands to retain what they have learned in this course and educate people about cinema. In reference to one of the interactions during the course, he added that while putting a Rajasthani touch in Hindi films is great, however it is upon the students to take the Rajasthani cinema forward.Singh who also delivered the vote of thanks said that this was JKK's third collaboration with FTII, the other two being Film Making course part of the Junior Summer Programme and the ongoing Screenplay writing course. She also mentioned that as part of visual arts, JKK will soon be introducing films to add on with theatre and music. Ms Singh further made an announcement about the upcoming European Union Film Festival which will be held at JKK from 1 to 5 August where in various award winning films from around the world and by renowned film makers will be screened.The valedictory ceremony further continued with an entertaining mimicry act on Bollywood actors and a monologue performance along with screening of photo documentary and short films made by some of the participants.
