Mercury dips as mild showers continue across state

Karanpur (Sriganganagar) received 100 mm rainfall which was highest in the state, the met reports said.Jaipur met office said that mild to moderate showers will continue in some parts of the state on Saturday and Sunday.Jaipurities woke up to a pleasant morning and it was followed by a sultry afternoon as a maximum temperature of 34.1 degrees accompanied with a humidity of 85 percent was reported in the city. Throughout the day cloudy conditions prevailed in the city, but it did not covert into rainfall.Karanpur (Sriganganagar) was followed by Pratapgarh Dungla (Chittorgarh) where rainfall of 80 mm was received, Bari Sadri (Chittorgarh) and Chhotisadri (Pratapgarh) 50 mm each, Salumber (Udaipur), Arai (Ajmer) and Bahadurpur (Alwar) 40 mm each.Till Saturday the total rainfall received in the state is 307.58mm which is 2.82% lower compared to 316.53mm recorded till August 10, 2017. Eight districts in the state have got a deficit rainfall. These include Ajmer, Barmer, Bundi, Dausa, Jalore, Pali, Sirohi and Tonk.Deficit in the district including Ajmer and Tonk is a big matter of concern especially for these districts dependent on Bisalpur dam for drinking and irrigation needs. “Compared to 2017 the water level at Bisalpur is less. A good rainfall in Jaipur, Tonk and Ajmer is needed,” said an officer with water resources department.In its forecast Jaipur Met office said that mild to moderate showers will continue in the state for the next 48 hours especially in eastern Rajasthan and some parts of western Rajasthan.
