Jaipur: A major fire swept through three shops of a commercial shopping complex in Johari Bazaar area of the city, on Friday morning.According to fire official Jalaj Ghasiya, the fire broke out at the third floor of the shopping complex located in Haldiyon ka Rasta area in Johari Bazaar at 9.30 am. “A short-circuit triggered the fire at the third floor of the complex. The blaze quickly gutted three shops on the same floor,” he told TOI.A plume of black smoke engulfed nearby buildings, as fire fighters entered the building to douse the flames. About 11 fire tenders were rushed to the spot.“The challenge at hand was to ensure that the fire doesn’t spread to other buildings. The dangling electric wires could have worsened the situation,” the official said. The fire tenders also faced problems in entering the area, due to electric wires hanging all over the pillars.Initial investigation indicates that an electric short-circuit had caused the fire. The fire officials said that shopkeepers and customers escaped unscathed in the mishap.
