RSRTC strike continues passengers affected private operators fleecing

Jaipur: The RSRTC strike continued for the second consecutive day on Tuesday when more than 4,000 buses remained off roads. Various employees’ unions, after having a discussion on Tuesday evening, decided to continue their strike for the next 24 hours. However, Yunus Khan, transport minister, has appealed to the employees to get back to work and accused the Congress to politicise the RSRTC employees’ strike.Heavy commotion continued at the Sindhi Camp bus stand and other nearby areas. Thus, after a meeting we have decided to continue the strike for the next 24 hours, till further decision is made.The demands of RSRTC employees’ union included — purchasing new buses, filling up vacancies, implementing the Seventh Pay Commission and benefits for retired employees, among other demands. The worst-affected were the passengers from various districts including Dholpur, Karauli, Sawai Madhopur, Jodhpur, Udaipur and other districts where people are majorly dependent on RSRTC bus service.RSRTC carries nearly 10 lakh passengers per day and due to the ongoing strike, there has already been a big revenue loss for the RSRTC.ML Yadav, a union leader of RSRTC employees’ union, said, “There has not been any kind of positive response from the state government on our demands.
