Joshi faction set to seek legal intervention JAIPUR: In a move that can have a far-reaching effect on the game in the state, the CP Joshi-led executive committee of Rajasthan Cricket Association RCA ) was on Tuesday disbanded by the Registrar of Societies. As per the Rajasthan State Sports Act, which governs all sporting bodies of the state, the registrar has the power to disband any executive committee if he finds some irregularities.Registrar of Societies Neeraj K Pawan acted on a complaint by RCA secretary Rajendra Singh Nandu and treasurer Pinkesh Porwal, both of whom owe allegiance to the Lalit Modi faction. “Both of us, along with 14 other district associations, had complained of irregularities in the RCA long back,” Nandu told TOI. “The registrar did his own investigations and found that there had indeed been irregularities. All the involved parties were asked to present their versions by September 17, which we did. Today, the registrar decided to act.”Fearing such a move, the Joshi faction had moved an application at the Rajasthan High Court on Monday itself. Assistant secretary Mahendra Nahar had himself appealed to the court to step in.The court, however, advised them to wait for the registrar to act before bringing the matter the HC. Officials of the Joshi faction told TOI that they would approach the court at the earliest. “This was expected and we are prepared for it”.The registrar also formed an eight-member ad-hoc committee to handle the RCA affairs on an interim basis. The ad-hoc body has been directed to hold fresh elections within three months. The ad-hoc body, incidentally has an overwhelming majority of Lalit Modi loyalists. Even though the former IPL chairman has quit from all administrative posts, his shadows continues to hang over the RCA.The developments came just a day after yet another show of bonhomie put up by both the factions. Following the extra-ordinary general body meeting on Monday, convened to discuss aligning its constitution with that of the BCCI , Joshi and Nandu stood together before the TV cameras and declared that the fresh start had been made at the RCA and everyone has come together for the growth of cricket in the state. Like always, this show of bonhomie turned out to be a big farce.The latest chapter of RCA’s troubles started soon after Joshi defeated Ruchir Modi (Lalit’s son) to become the president. However, Nandu and Porwal’s victories gave the Modi faction a crucial hold on the executive committee. Even though the Joshi faction had the majority, having lost the two key posts proved to be the bane. Among the first things that Joshi did after assuming his position was to suspend Nandu and give control to assistant secretary Mahendra Nahar. The drama immediately moved to court with Nandu procuring a stay order. The secretary then alleged financial irregularities against the Joshi faction during the IPL and went to the registrar with his complaint.
