HC upholds 1-year ban on construction company

The single bench of Justice VS Siradhana ordered status quo on the election held on June 27. Meanwhile, another petition was filed in the court challenging the appointment of Dr Alok Khunteta by the government as the new registrar of the Rajasthan Pharmacy Council. But complaints on the poor execution of the work reached even the prime minister’s office.

JAIPUR: The Rajasthan High Court had upheld the ban of one year imposed on M/s Om Constructions Ltd by the Jaipur Vidut Vitaran Nigam Ltd (JVVNL) for its failure to execute the underground cable work in Jaipur properly.The division bench order followed an appeal by the JVVNL challenging the single bench order in favour of the company and the imposition of a fine of Rs 2 lakh on JVVNL.JVVNL has given the work of laying underground cables in the city to M/s Om Constructions on central labour rate contract (CLRC). But complaints on the poor execution of the work reached even the prime minister’s office. Following PMO directions, the JVVNL quality control and safety department conducted an enquiry and found the work very unsatisfactory.The company was then disqualified by the Discom for a year which was challenged in the High court. The single bench of the court quashed the order of disqualification and imposed a cost of Rs 2 lakh on JVVNL which was challenged in the division bench.Status quo on Pharmacy Council polls:High court had ordered status quo on petitions on the Pharmacy Council election results and the appointment of a registrar by the government to the council. The single bench of Justice VS Siradhana ordered status quo on the election held on June 27. Ravi Bhushan Puri approached the court saying that though the election to the council was held on June 27 the results were yet to be declared. Meanwhile, another petition was filed in the court challenging the appointment of Dr Alok Khunteta by the government as the new registrar of the Rajasthan Pharmacy Council. The petition said according to the Pharmacy Council Act, the council is vested with the power to appoint the registrar. The government effort in violation of the rules is to manipulate the election. The court ordering status quo posted the next hearing of the case to Oct 4.
