Discom staff withdraw stir after government accepts demands

The decision of the government is to motivate them further and work hard so that the loss making Discoms could be out of the red. The Discoms would issue direction to make the existing Medi claim policy cashless. The designation of employees would be made similar in each of the five Discoms to bring in uniformity.The contract system of employment under Discoms and the regularization of the existing employees on contract would be examined by legal experts. The decision will cost the Discoms Rs 8 crore per month and Rs 100 crore per annum.It was also agreed that promotion to employees coming in the pay band of 1 to 6 will get promotion every three years and the seniority of the technical employees coming in the pay band of 2 to 6 would be decided at each Discom . It would also take necessary steps to pay the incentives due to the employees and to deposit the pension fund/pensioners medical concession fund (PMCF) due from all the Discoms.The government would also seek a factual report on mutual transfers in the five Discoms.It was also agreed that no disciplinary action would be initiated against any employees for strike and their absence would be adjusted in leaves.R G Gupta, chairman and managing director of the Discoms, said, “The technical helpers and junior engineers are the backbone of the Discoms.

JAIPUR: The agitating Rajasthan Vidut Samyukt Karmachari Ekta Munch withdrew their four-day indefinite strike on Thursday night following successful talks with the government on their five-point demands.Buckling under pressure, the state government agreed for the grade pay of 2,400 for the technical employees who passed ITI and in principle agreed to the grade pay of 4,800 to the junior engineers The minutes of the meeting released after the talks said that the orders to the new grade pay for the technical helpers would be issued shortly.On the demand of 4,800 grade pay to junior engineers ( JEN ), the government in-principle agreed but a meeting of the officials and employees’ unions would be held again on September 27 to iron out the procedure of implantation.At present, the pay band of the technical helpers is 2,000 and JEN is 3,600.
