Jodhpur bus station stays deserted

Approximately 22,000 passengers depart and arrive at the Jodhpur bus station but in absence of them, an entire station is deserted.The strike has also affected the livelihood of the vendors selling different stuffs at the bus station and they have been desperately looking forward for the strike to end. Jodhpur: Employees of Rajasthan State Road Transport Corporation remained on strike for the fourth consecutive day on Thursday. The strike has badly affected the passengers who travel on the roadways buses on a daily basis. State secretary of the employees union L S Rajpurohit said their strike would continue until their demands are not met. Worst affected of them are those who travel long distances i.e.

Jodhpur: Employees of Rajasthan State Road Transport Corporation remained on strike for the fourth consecutive day on Thursday. Bus station of Jodhpur wore a deserted look because of this strike with no footfall of any passengers who have been hoping for the strike to be called off.According to the roadways sources, 700 buses depart from and arrive at the Jodhpur bus station everyday but the wheels of all the buses remained still which has been resulting in a revenue loss of about Rs 15 lakh per day to the Jodhpur depot.“Of these buses, about 30% are dedicated to the rural service and ferrying passengers from rural area,” the source said. State secretary of the employees union L S Rajpurohit said their strike would continue until their demands are not met. The strike has badly affected the passengers who travel on the roadways buses on a daily basis. Worst affected of them are those who travel long distances i.e. over 100 km.“The rural passengers take resort to alternative means of travelling which are easily available but those travelling long distances are left with no alternative but to take private or Lok Parivahan buses,” sources said.
