Walkathon to be held on September 23 in Jaipur

JAIPUR: A walkathon will be organised in Jaipur on Sunday as a prelude to the World Heart Day (September 29). The route of the walkathon is CK Birla Hospitals-RBH, Near Triveni fly over, Gopalpura Bypass to Gurjar ki Thadi and return to CK Birla Hospital premises. The event will be organised by The Times of India.The Times Walkathon 2018 will start at 6 am and cover a distance of about 6 km. The objective behind organising this event is to develop walking habits among the citizens of Jaipur. About 155.7 to 209.1 deaths per 1 lakh population have been reported between 1990 and 2016.

Post walkathon, free T-shirts for each participant, free zumba , yoga and aerobics session for one hour will organised.Death rate due to cardiovascular diseases (CVD) has declined by 42% in US between 1990 and 2016, but in India, it has gone up by 34% in the same period. About 155.7 to 209.1 deaths per 1 lakh population have been reported between 1990 and 2016.
