Resident docs go on strike in Udaipur

Udaipur: Medical and health services in hospitals under the RNT Medical College here were paralysed after some 350 resident doctors went on strike on Sunday. “We are trying to convince the resident doctors to refrain from strike for a week,” Dr DP Singh, principal of the medical college said.On a written complaint from ASI Mishrilal, an FIR was lodged against two resident doctors Deeparam (Sanchore) and Surendra Singh (Lakshmangarh). The resident doctors’ association is likely to approach their peers in other districts too, to join them in the strike.The strike affected medical services in the hospitals affiliated to the medical college and people had to move to private hospitals in emergency cases. If the other party has any complaint, they should properly register it with the authorities so that legal action can be taken,” Kunwar Rashtradeep, Udaipur SP said. “We have only received an FIR from the ASI, no written complaint has come from the doctor.

The striking community is demanding to withdraw an FIR that was lodged against Dr Deeparam by a traffic ASI who complained that the accused had beaten and misbehaved with him few days back while he was on duty and reprimanded him for violating traffic rules. Fearing arrest, the doctors chose to protest by crippling health services, sources said. While Hathipole SHO Ravindra Singh Charan claimed that traffic ASI Mishrilal was beaten and humiliated when he reprimanded the doctor for speeding on a routine checking at the hospital entrance gate.The police has sought video footage of the incident where the doctors are seen abusing and beating the cop. Meanwhile, the doctors claim that they are not being heard and the police is bent on taking action the two doctors. “We have only received an FIR from the ASI, no written complaint has come from the doctor. If the other party has any complaint, they should properly register it with the authorities so that legal action can be taken,” Kunwar Rashtradeep, Udaipur SP said.
