Cyclone Daye effect Rajasthan gets moderate to heavy showers

JAIPUR: Many parts in the state continued to face the impact of cyclone Daye that brought mild to moderate showers across the state. “It is a clear impact of cyclone Daye which has brought rainfall at many places in the state. It was followed by Pilani (Jhunjhunu) and Chirawa (Jhunjunu) where a rainfall of 60 mm was received, Dug (Jhalawar) and Pidawa (Jhalawar) 50 mm each. However, cyclone Daye has brought moderate to heavy rainfall in many states including southern and eastern parts of Rajasthan,” said an officer with the Jaipur Met office.Jaipurites woke up to a pleasant morning with drizzle that continued throughout the day. Bakani (Jhalawar) received a rainfall of 80 mm which was highest in the state.

Some of the districts witnessed continuous drizzling throughout the day on Sunday. Jaipur Met office has further forecast heavy rainfall in at least 11 districts including many parts in southern Rajasthan in the next 24 hours.Since Friday evening many places in the state witnessed mild showers that converted into heavy rainfall at many places in the state. “It is a clear impact of cyclone Daye which has brought rainfall at many places in the state. South west monsoon was already over. However, cyclone Daye has brought moderate to heavy rainfall in many states including southern and eastern parts of Rajasthan,” said an officer with the Jaipur Met office.Jaipurites woke up to a pleasant morning with drizzle that continued throughout the day. For people in the Pink City it was a chance to throng the picnic spots and nearby areas including Kanota dam, however for farmers it increased the worries as rainfall in last week of September is always dangerous for Kharif. A total rainfall of 10 mm was received in Jaipur till 5.30 pm. In the afternoon a maximum temperature of 26.4 degree Celsius, almost 8 degrees below the normal notch was recorded.Many places in southern Rajasthan received a rainfall varying from 10mm to 80 mm. Bakani (Jhalawar) received a rainfall of 80 mm which was highest in the state. It was followed by Pilani (Jhunjhunu) and Chirawa (Jhunjunu) where a rainfall of 60 mm was received, Dug (Jhalawar) and Pidawa (Jhalawar) 50 mm each. Some places in the state also received rainfall varying from 30 mm to 10 mm.Except Barmer and Jaisalmer where a maximum temperature of 39 and 37.5 degree Celsius was recorded, respectively, majority of the places witnessed a maximum temperature below 30 degree Celsius.In its forecast Jaipur Met office said that districts including Sawai Madhopur, Tonk, Kota, Bundi, Jhalawar, Baran, Udaipur, Banswara , Bhilwara, Chittorgarh, Dungarpur, Rajsamand, Sirohi and Pratapgarh will receive moderate to heavy rainfall in the next 24 hours.
