Jaipur: Five days after the National Investigation Agency ( NIA ) busted a major terror funding module with ties to terror outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba’s front organisation Falah-e-Insaniyat Foundation (FIF), one of the arrested hawala conduits, has turned out to be a native of Kuchaman city in Nagaur district and his local ties are now under the scanner.Mohammad Salim (62), alias Mama was arrested from Daryaganj area on September 25. Nagaur SP Harendra Kumar said that NIA is currently investigating the matter but if required, the local police may also look into the case.The officials of the state intelligence said that Salim had shifted to New Delhi several years ago, however, he still has relatives in Kuchaman city. “He frequently travelled to his native town. His local antecedents are being verified,” an official said.Kuchaman city police, however, told TOI that they have not found any criminal record of Salim yet. “After the matter came to our notice, we looked through our records but Salim’s involvement in any local case has not been found till now,” said Kuchaman city SHO, Suryabhan Singh.The Rajasthan police said that they are keeping a track over the case to find out if Salim’s hawala network had ties in the state too. “We are in constant touch with the NIA, if anything comes to our notice, we will look into it,” said ATS ADG Umesh Mishra.The latest arrest of hawala conduit, albeit from New Delhi, has sent shudders in the state police.
