Congress moves into top poll gear, appoints committees

Congress chief whip Govind Singh Dotasra would head the party’s media and communication committee, while Archana Sharma would be cochairperson. The AICC announced the nine committees late Thursday night, two days after the Congress Working Committee (CWC) meeting held in New Delhi.The coordination committee under Gehlot has chairmen of remaining eight committees as its members. JAIPUR: Former chief minister Ashok Gehlot has been appointed chairman of the Congress election coordination committee, while PCC chief Sachin Pilot has been made chairman of the party’s Pradesh Election Committee (PEC) for the upcoming state polls.The announcement of the two important committees, along with seven other election-related committees, was much awaited. Satyendra Singh Raghav, Saud Siddiqui and Prashant Bairwa will be conveners. The manifesto committee is chaired by Harish Chaudhary and has Raghuveer Meena (cochairman), Manju Meghwal and MLA Shakuntla Rawat (both as conveners).Former union minister C P Joshi has been made chairman of the publicity and publication committee.Ex-union minister Jitendra Singh is co-chairman of the committee.

The PEC headed by Pilot has 44 members, including Gehlot.Ajmer MP chief of campaign committeeJaipur: Leader of opposition Rameshwar Dudi is co-chairman and deputy leader of opposition Ramesh Meena is convener of the PEC.The campaign committee has Ajmer MP Raghu Sharma as chairman, MLA Mahendrajeet Singh Malviya as co-chairman, Saleh Mohammad and Mamta Bhupesh as conveners. The manifesto committee is chaired by Harish Chaudhary and has Raghuveer Meena (cochairman), Manju Meghwal and MLA Shakuntla Rawat (both as conveners).Former union minister C P Joshi has been made chairman of the publicity and publication committee.Ex-union minister Jitendra Singh is co-chairman of the committee. The party has appointed 18 spokespersons too.The discipline committee has been constituted under former minister Bhanwar Lal Meghwal and has A A Khan as cochairman, Sushil Sharma and Vandana Mathur as conveners.The protocol committee has Mahila Congress president Rehana Riaz as the chairperson, while the transport and accommodation committee has former minister Prasadi Lal Meena as its chairman.
