JAIPUR: People in the country’s largest state, Rajasthan , would cast votes on a single day, December 7, and the election results will be out on December 11, along with the four other states going to polls on different dates. In 2013 polls too, the state had single phase election. The term of the present state assembly, which is the 14th since 1952, will expire on January 20 next year.For the first time, the voters will be able to see name of the candidate they have voted for in the EVM machine for few seconds, said Anand Kumar, the chief electoral officer (CEO), Rajasthan. “This feature has been added to remove any suspicion in the mind of voters,” Kumar said at press conference here on Saturday.Elections will be held for all 200 assembly seats, of which 34 are reserved for SC, 25 for ST and 141 are open to all. Three seats are vacant.The total number of voters in the state is 4,74,79,402 crores, which is 67.53 lakh more than those in 2013 when the last assembly elections were held.“There will be zero tolerance for violation of model code of conduct (MCC) that has come into force with immediate effect after announcement of poll dates,” Kumar said, adding that new schemes, policy decisions or inaugurations cannot take place until the poll process is over. “Even transfers or promotions of government employees cannot me made. The department heads will have to take the permission from the CEO office on these matters," said Kumar.The CEO said that pictures of political leaders on government schemes and polices will be removed as soon as possible. When asked if pictures of CM Vasundhara Raje on the Bhamashah Cards would be a violation of MCC, Kumar replied, “Crores of such cards distributed across the state over a period of time cannot be recalled.
