Jaipur girls learn selfdefence skills

A 10-day self-defence workshop was recently organised by Akhil Bhartiya Vidyarthi Parishad in 40 colleges in the city. The participants displayed various skills like shoulder throw and breaking wooden logs with their bare hands.More than 3,000 girls participated in the final demo hosted in the campus of Government Maharani College.A participant breaks a wooden slab as part of her trainingAjeet Meena, Regional Secretary, said, “The graph of violence against girls and women is growing by leaps and bounds. As part of the Mission Sahasi initiative, girls were taught the basics of judo and karate.Demonstration of a girl breaking a tile with her foreheadThe training also focussed on teaching the girls to use products of daily use like bags and pen as weapons in times of need.
