JAIPUR: The Churu district administration has begun an initiative to ensure that new mothers reach polling booths on December 7.Reaching out to the women who have given birth to child recently, the administration has been counselling them about the importance of casting votes. The administration and health department officials are reaching out to women who have given birth to child in September and October.On an average, 3500 births are recorded every month in Churu. The district has a total voter of 14,57,624, of which 6,95,110 are women.For example, 25-year-old Tahira, from Sardarshahar who has recently given birth to a baby at the Churu district hospital, has signed a pledge that she will cast her vote on December 7. “I will also encourage others to vote as well. I have taken a pledge,” she said.“We have launched the drive to ensure better participation of women,” said Dr Sunil Jandu, district reproduction and child health officer. “The drive was launched in September. We are encouraging them (women) to come out of their houses and vote. It doesn’t have any health risk,” he added.Tomorrow’s district profile | Sri Ganganagar
