Churu police seize IMFL worth Rs 30 lakh 1 arrested

Jaipur: Continuing its efforts against illegal smuggling of liquor, the Churu police near Rajgarh seized a truck containing nearly 1,340 cartons on Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) worth nearly Rs 30 lakh. He said one Ravindra Singh was arrested in this connection.Churu police has cracked a whip against illegal smuggling of liquor since the model code of conduct came in place. This is the reason why some people are now inclined towards illegal factories in which spurious liquor is being made,” said a senior police officer. This was third strong action of Churu police against liquor smuggling as last week too they had seized IMFL worth nearly Rs 36 lakh.In another incident the highway patrol of Churu police managed to seize 20 kg of poppy husk from a truck carrying canteen items from Bengaluru to Jammu. It was Haryana manufactured liquor and was being illegally smuggled to Gujarat,” said Rammurthy Joshi, superintendent of police, Churu.

The liquor was smuggled from Chandigarh to be taken to Gujarat via Rajasthan. On Sunday Churu police had raided a factory involved in the manufacturing of the spurious liquor.“We are already on high alert mode where every suspicious vehicle is being checked. On Monday morning when we asked the truck driver to stop he attempted to accelerate the vehicle. We managed to stop it. We found many liquor cartons. It was Haryana manufactured liquor and was being illegally smuggled to Gujarat,” said Rammurthy Joshi, superintendent of police, Churu. He said one Ravindra Singh was arrested in this connection.Churu police has cracked a whip against illegal smuggling of liquor since the model code of conduct came in place. “We will not let liquor to pass through Churu. Our SHOs and senior officers are working on it on priority basis. This is the reason why some people are now inclined towards illegal factories in which spurious liquor is being made,” said a senior police officer. This was third strong action of Churu police against liquor smuggling as last week too they had seized IMFL worth nearly Rs 36 lakh.In another incident the highway patrol of Churu police managed to seize 20 kg of poppy husk from a truck carrying canteen items from Bengaluru to Jammu. Further investigation in both the cases was on.
