Jaipur: Always in the news for wrong reasons BJP’s sitting MLA from Ramgarh, Alwar, Gyan Dev Ahuja on Sunday surprised party workers when he announced that he will be contesting as an independent candidate from the Sanganer constituency. Minutes after sending his resignation to the party president, Madan Lal Saini, Ahuja said for safeguarding Hindutva and cows he has made his mind to field himself as an independent candidate.His tenure as MLA has been controversial. Be it his remark on the number of condoms at Jawahar Lal Nehru University or his open support to the cow vigilantes involved in lynching incidents, Ahuja has never bothered about his growing fundamentalist image. Ahuja hit national headlines in 2016 for his remarks that thousands of condoms were found on the university campus daily.“The distribution of tickets has suggested that there is a clear dictatorship and favouritism in BJP. A large number of people gathered at my residence and urged me to contest as an independent. There was a moral pressure on me thus I accepted the request of my well-wishers. I have sent my resignation to Madan Lal Saini, president of BJP and will file nominations on Monday from Sanganer constituency,” he said while talking to TOI on Sunday.When asked about facing stalwarts like Ghanshyam Tiwari at the Sanganer seat he said, “He is my friend and we have worked together in Rastriya Swamsewak Sangh. But, how can I disobey the order of Hindu samaj. I am not contesting for myself but for issues including Gau Raksha, Hindutava and Ram Janam Bhoomi.”Ahuja was also in news when he had threatened that girls of a particular community would not be safe if the girls of Hindu community lured away in the name of love Jihaad are not returned home.
