Jaipur: Rebellion continues to trouble both the leading parties in Rajasthan - BJP and Congress. Several leaders from Congress and BJP on Sunday, who were denied tickets by their respective parties in the final list, are evaluating their options to decide on the future course of action. Some leaders continue to lash out against their parties, while others have decided to contest as independent candidates making it a triangular contest. The parties saw tough opposition to the selection of some candidates at the cost of sitting MLAs and local strongmen. Sanyam Lodha, two-time Congress MLA from Sirohi announced his decision to file nomination on Monday and contest election independently. While talking to TOI Lodha said, “I have given my blood and sweat to the party. It’s disheartening, when a sincere party worker is not allowed to contest. I would file my nomination as an independent candidate on Monday.”BJP firebrand leader Gyandev Ahuja who is an MLA from Ramgarh too declared to contest as an independent candidate from the Sanganer constituency after resigning from the party.Meanwhile, supporters of PCC general secretary Pankaj Metha, who was denied a ticket from Kota (South) raised slogans against the AICC general secretary, Ashok Gehlot, in a press conference and asked him to contest independently. Mehta refused to contest as an independent candidate. As a mark of protest, Congress Minority Cell president Nizam Kureshi also submitted his resignation from the party after he was denied ticket from Hawa Mahal constituency. Along with him, 35 district presidents of minority cell also gave their resignations.Few disgruntled candidates also submitted resignations over denial of tickets and joined opposition party. Congress loyalist and former National Commission for Women (NCW) chief , Mamta Sharma submitted her resignation and joined BJP after the party denied ticket to her son, Samradh Sharma, from Bundi constituency. As a BJP candidate, Sharma will contest election from Pipalda assembly seat in Kota. She said, “I will file my nomination on Monday. I feel betrayed as Congress did not give ticket to my son who was actively working in Bundi for last 10 years. Congress senior leaders claimed that party would not give tickets to contestants who lost two times. This is the reason I never asked for a ticket. However, there are six examples in separate constituencies, where tickets are given to the family members of candidates who were defeated twice.”
