Mercury dips in state Churu coldest

Churu remained the coldest in the state, where a minimum temperature of 7.5 degree Celsius was recorded, the met reports said.Attributing the climatic change to the active northerly winds, the Jaipur met office said that similar conditions will prevail in the state for the next 24 hours, when many places in western Rajasthan will witness a dip in temperatures.Jaipurites woke up to a colder morning as the minimum temperature of 10.1 degree Celsius was recorded in the city. Due to the shivering cold conditions, the roads wore an empty look in the morning as people confined themselves to their respective homes during early morning and late evening hours. There has also been a dip in the footfall of morning walkers at the centre park. Also, the sales of woollens saw a rise in the past couple of days. Fog and mist also affected road traffic during early morning hours.Churu was followed by Sriganganagar where a minimum temperature of 9.4 degree Celsius was recorded, Udaipur was at 8.4, Pilani at 9.3, Kota at 9.5, Ajmer at 10.3, Jodhpur at 11.7, Jaisalmer at 13.1, Barmer at 13.2.Though there has been a dip in the minimum temperatures, days at many places are still warm. “Fog and shivering cold is being witnessed at some of the places during the days. However, days by-and-large are warmer so far,” said an officer with the Jaipur met office.
