Two gangsters held by crime branch

JAIPUR: The crime branch of Jaipur police claimed a major breakthrough on Wednesday after it arrested two dreaded gangsters involved in firing and extortion cases. The crime branch unit intercepted them and arrested them. A case against them was registered at Kotwali Fatehpur police station in Sikar. Both the accused are residents of Sikar district and would be handed over to the police station in Fatehpur where a case is pending against them. “The two accused were wanted in multiple serious cases including one which happened last month in Fatehpur in Sikar where they fired at the house of a businessman for extortion.

Police have identified the accused as Ranveer Nayak and Mahesh Jat from Delhi road and handed them over to the VKI police station of the city.Sources told TOI that two firearms were also recovered from the duo. “The two accused were wanted in multiple serious cases including one which happened last month in Fatehpur in Sikar where they fired at the house of a businessman for extortion. They fired multiple times which triggered a state of panic in the area,” the official said, adding that another incident involved firing at a manager of a highway hotel on Bikaner highway.Since then, the police were on lookout for the duo. A case against them was registered at Kotwali Fatehpur police station in Sikar. They were booked under fire arms act by the police. “Accused Ranveer Nayak is carrying a prize of Rs 5,000 on him for his involvement in multiple heinous offences,” another official told TOI.The crime branch of the city police comprising Manendra Singh, Purshottam and Dwarka Prasad tracked down the duo after they were tipped-off about unidentified accused roaming around in the city with firearms. The crime branch unit intercepted them and arrested them. Both the accused are residents of Sikar district and would be handed over to the police station in Fatehpur where a case is pending against them.
