838L new households apply for work in 13 days

Total person days generated up to January 5 (for FY 2018-19), the day campaign started, was 16.46 crore.On January 17, person days generated stood at 17.57 crore. During the 'Kaam Mango Abhiyaan', already 1.11 crore person days have been generated in 13 days. According to an official, on an average, 1.5 crore person days are generated monthly in the state. So far, special camps have been set up in 4228 gram panchayats and 41,454 new job cards have been issued at these camps. Compared to 12.33 lakh employment generated on January 17 in 2018, 21.86 lakh employment were generated on the same day in 2019.

Jaipur: Following Rajasthan governments initiative to set up ‘special camps’ in rural areas under MGNREGA scheme from January 5-20 to attract more workers, 8.38 lakh new households have so far applied for work at 4,228 gram panchayats (where the campaign has been conducted) and it has generated 1.11 crore person days in 13 days.From January 5 to 17 (Thursday), on an average extra 8 lakh person days have been generated each day, according to data provided by rural development department. According to an official, on an average, 1.5 crore person days are generated monthly in the state. During the 'Kaam Mango Abhiyaan', already 1.11 crore person days have been generated in 13 days. Total person days generated up to January 5 (for FY 2018-19), the day campaign started, was 16.46 crore.On January 17, person days generated stood at 17.57 crore. Compared to 12.33 lakh employment generated on January 17 in 2018, 21.86 lakh employment were generated on the same day in 2019. On January 3, 2019, two days before the campaign started, 16.73 lakh employment were generated. So far, special camps have been set up in 4228 gram panchayats and 41,454 new job cards have been issued at these camps. According to the report, so far more than 8.38 lakh households have been given receipts against issuance of Form-6, at an average of 70,000 households per day. More than 2.82 lakh job cards have been renewed and updated so far, while 2,952 job cards have been cancelled. The special camps will not be set up in the 512 gram panchayats in Alwar district with the model code of conduct (MCC) in place, in view of the bypoll in Ramgarh constituency on January 28. Camps will be set up in the rest of the gram panchayats till the campaign is over.During a review meeting of rural development department, dy CM Sachin Pilot had expressed dissatisfaction over less workers getting attracted under the scheme.
