Residents in colonies without due approval installed iron gates on big roads and would close them as per their whims and fancies. This became inconvenient for the commuters in city. Hence, they were removed. The drive will continue and we will take note of other iron gates which were left out of the purview of the committee.”He further added that anyone having more than five cattle will be considered to be running a dairy, as per the law. “In 2001, a survey was conducted in the city in which these dairies were shifted to three colonies especially made for them. Plots on concessional rates were provided to the dairy owners at Surajpura Bhatta and two other places. We have shifted the cattle to that area and are also updating the survey done in 2001 as much has changed since then.”Many dairy owners have complained about the drive saying that shifting to the outskirts of the city will affect their business. “I agree it is against the law to run the dairy in the city but it is financially beneficial for us due to the proximity to the consumers. Our profits will be halved after we shift. This will directly affect our livelihood,” said a dairy owner.
