The general secretary of the M I road traders association, Suresh Saini said that they have given notice to the district administration many times but nothing has been done after which they decided to take things more seriously.“The one-way rule coincides with the peak hours of business due to which our sales have gone down by 50% because customers have to take a long route to reach the market. Moreover, the parking is not paid which is why people park their cars in the market for the entire day making it problematic for our customers. We want the government to fix the exact timings for the one-way traffic and start charging for the parking,” said Saini. The M I road shops stretch start from Ajmeri Gate up till Khasa Kothi in which 400 shops are being affected. However, DCP traffic, Pooja Awana said that changing the one-way system is not at all possible.“It is impossible as with the two-way traffic it will become really chaotic to manage the place. The traders have to adjust as per the system or else the entire city will suffer. We are planning to start charging for the parking in the area. For that we will send the proposal to JMC to invite tenders and hope this will be solved soon but traffic will have to remain one-way,” said Pooja.
