Minor girl trafficked to Raj not to return to Odisha

The minor being pregnant now, her father has decided that they will not return to Rourkela in Odisha before her delivery. The girl was kidnapped and sold in Jhunjhunu to a 40-year-old man who raped her for over a year. He also learnt that his daughter was trafficked for Rs four lakh.After two weeks, his daughter was brought to Rourkela by Rajasthan police. A team was set up by the commission which went to Jhunjhunu and managed to rescue the girl on February 5. DCW had received a complaint from the girl’s father, who is a government employee, that his minor daughter had been kidnapped and trafficked over a year ago.

Jaipur: A 16-year-old girl, who is a victim of kidnapping and trafficking and was rescued from Rajasthan last week, says she will not go back to her home state Odisha. The girl was kidnapped and sold in Jhunjhunu to a 40-year-old man who raped her for over a year. The minor being pregnant now, her father has decided that they will not return to Rourkela in Odisha before her delivery. She is currently in Delhi.“The girl’s father, on her behalf has decided that she will not go back to Odisha, since its close to her delivery time as she is 9-months pregnant and he also has misgivings about taking her back to Rourkela. For now, she is staying put in Delhi,” said an official of Delhi Commission for Women (DCW).The girl who lost her mother, was allegedly sold off by her stepsister in December 2017. DCW had received a complaint from the girl’s father, who is a government employee, that his minor daughter had been kidnapped and trafficked over a year ago. The father said that despite getting an FIR registered immediately, his daughter remained missing and the police was unable to trace her. After about 10 days, he came to know that his daughter had been forcibly married off to a 40-year-old man and sent to Rajasthan. He also learnt that his daughter was trafficked for Rs four lakh.After two weeks, his daughter was brought to Rourkela by Rajasthan police. She revealed that on a day when her father had gone to work, she was kidnapped from her house by two relatives, who forcibly married her off to a 40-year-old man in return for money. In Rourkela, she was taken to the Child Welfare Committee (CWC) where she was handed over to her father, but the police took custody of the girl and forcibly sent her back to Rajasthan.Following this, her father wrote several letters to various authorities in Odisha and Rajasthan for over a year, but to no avail. A team was set up by the commission which went to Jhunjhunu and managed to rescue the girl on February 5.
