Jaipur: Unidentified thieves broke into a jeweller’s shop in Chaura Rasta market and decamped with cash of Rs 40,000 and jewellery worth over several lakhs.The incident happened on early Friday morning at Panna Lal Jadiya jewellers when thieves broke into by opening nine locks from outside and four which were placed inside the shop.“Our shop has all security measures. There were 13 locks, nine to lock the shutter from outside and four inside the shop. The thieves took away locks with them too,” added an employee.The police said that the accused decamped with cash worth Rs 40,000, gold items up to 1,400 grams of ornaments. “The cumulative worth of ornaments is Rs 50 lakh along with Rs 40,000 of cash,” said jeweler Om Prakash.The Jaipur’ Kotwali police station have registered an FIR. “We have retrieved CCTV footage from nearby areas. Also, we have gathered some clues about the culprits based on the examination of the spot,” an official said.The Kotwali police have sent an alert to nearby police stations with details of suspects. Meanwhile, the incident triggered a panic in the area with several jewelers demanding quick action against the accused.“We have also fetched CCTV footage from nearby shops it appears that incident happened at about late Thursday night,” police said.“The culprits conducted recce of the shop and stuck just when the area had become deserted. The accused came with bags and emptied all silver and gold ornaments into bags,” the official said.
